Cingular Pushes On In Ring-Back Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 19, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Telecommunications giant Cingular Wireless LLC has been granted more time in federal court to respond to a patent-infringement lawsuit over emerging “ring-back” technology that plaintiffs argue will be worth $17 billion in coming years.

Industry insiders speculate the lawsuit is just the first of many as wireless companies continue to offer new ring-back services, which can turn handsets into ads while callers wait for calls to go through.
