Law360, New York (March 01, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. is expected to surpass Germany as the top filer of international trademark registrations after the country ratified the Madrid protocol of the World Intellectual Property Organization in November of last year.
U.S. companies have filed more than 400 requests for registered trademarks in the four months since the U.S. Congress ratified the agreement, according to WIPO.
WIPO received 23,872 trademark applications in 2003, a 3% increase over the previous year. Germany was the top filer, with 5,000 applications, followed by France and Switzerland, according...
