Music Cos. Say Yahoo, Rhapsody Infringe Copyrights

Law360, New York (July 01, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A group of music rights holders has filed suit against Yahoo Inc., RealNetworks Inc. and Microsoft Corp. alleging that the companies have infringed copyrights by offering songs for download over their online music services.

The consortium filed a 104-page complaint on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee claiming that the companies did not obtain song copyrights before allowing the music to be streamed to customers through services YahooMusic.com, Rhapsody.com and Zune.com.
