Microsoft Faces Data Encryption Patent License Suit

Law360, New York (July 06, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Microsoft Corp. has been accused of concealing information about its object-based data encryption technology in Windows Vista and other products in order to score lower license fees under a $3 million licensing agreement with developer TecSec Inc.

In an amended complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, TecSec claims that Microsoft fraudulently withheld technology it had developed from the parties' licensing agreement in order to pay less for the rights to five patents.
