UMG, YouTube Settle Copyright Row Out of Court

Law360, New York (October 09, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- YouTube Inc., the popular online video-hosting service, deflected Monday a lawsuit threatened by Universal Music Group (UMG) and struck content deals with two other entertainment firms.

The agreements with UMG, CBS Corp. and Sony BMG Music Entertainment Inc. suggest the looming copyright battle suspected by experts may have fizzled - for now - in the face of potential advertising revenue.
