China, Korea Shattering The "Big Three" IP Notion

Law360, New York (October 16, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- With Japan the leader in patent applications worldwide, and its neighbors increasing their IP savvy, statistics confirm that Asia is on the move, according to a report released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

WIPO’s statistics show that the Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China’s patent offices are quickly emerging as the number-four and number-five agencies worldwide, morphing the standard “Big Three” into the “Big Five.”
