Obama Names 1st Intellectual Property Czar

Law360, New York (September 28, 2009, 12:05 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama has tapped Victoria Espinel for the post of U.S. intellectual property enforcement coordinator, a new administration position tasked with overseeing efforts to fight intellectual property theft.

The IP czar position, an Executive Office of the President post, was created under legislation signed into law in October 2008, which aimed to pump up government resources to help the U.S. Department of Justice fight intellectual property theft, and provide for coordination of federal agency efforts.
