Law360, New York (October 27, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- In a case with broad ramifications for international licensing rights, the U.S. Supreme Court said Friday it would hear a dispute between Microsoft Corp. and AT&T Corp. over Windows programs distributed outside the United States.
The case is likely to settle the question of whether infringement damages in U.S. patent law extend to software products sold overseas, a contentious area of intellectual property disputes in recent years.
