Sony Launches Copyright Suit Against Karaoke Cos.

Law360, New York (November 17, 2009, 2:05 PM ET) -- Sony ATV Music Publishing LLC and its affiliates have fired off a lawsuit against several leading karaoke song distributors, alleging the companies produce unlicensed recordings of Sony's copyrighted songs.

The music publisher lodged the copyright infringement suit against Colorado-based DJ Miller Music Distributors Inc. and Florida-based JS Karaoke in the U.S. District court for the Middle District of Tennessee on Monday.

The suit also names the companies' principals individually, some of whom are involved with more than one of the karaoke companies.
