Par Pharma Hit With Patent Suit Over Rythmol ANDA

Law360, New York (December 20, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Drug maker Reliant Pharmaceuticals Inc. has filed a federal patent infringement lawsuit against rival Par Pharmaceuticals Inc., accusing the company of violating its acquired patent related to the heart drug Rythmol SR.

Reliant, based in Liberty Corner, N.J., filed the lawsuit on Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. It acquired the family of patents for Rythmol from developer Abbott Laboratories Inc. in December 2003.
