McKool, Manatt Face Malpractice Suit From NFL Clients

Law360, New York (July 23, 2010, 7:05 PM ET) -- McKool Smith PC and Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP are facing legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty allegations from two classes of retired NFL football players unhappy with a $26 million settlement the firms negotiated on their behalf in an underlying licensing dispute with the NFL Players Association.

The ex-athletes say the firms should have more aggressively fought for admittance of crucial e-mail evidence and done more to push for damages for an underlying breach of fiduciary duty claim, according to a 16-page complaint lodged...
