Microsoft Wins Bid To Toss Xbox Network Patent Spat

Law360, New York (August 02, 2010, 12:41 PM ET) -- A federal judge has dismissed a suit accusing Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox Live network of infringing a patent for technology that lets video game users play together online, rejecting two inventors' efforts to overturn an earlier construction of one of the patent's claims.

Judge Paul D. Borman of the U.S. District for the Eastern District of Michigan ruled Friday that the special master in the case erred in considering extraneous evidence in order to recommend the plaintiffs' construction of the term "electrically connected" to include electromagnetic induction....
