Daewoo Must Pay Funai $8M In VCR Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 01, 2010, 7:45 PM ET) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Wednesday that Daewoo Electronics America Inc. must pay its share of an $8 million default judgment against its predecessor in a VCR patent fight with Funai Electric Co.

In a 50-page opinion by Judge Pauline Newman, the Federal Circuit affirmed a lower court's $7.2 million judgment against South Korea-based Daewoo Electronics Corp. and its American unit and struck another blow to the U.S. unit by reversing the decision as it related to successor liability.
