Intel, AmberWave Settle Over Strained Silicon Patents

Law360, New York (March 05, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Burying the hatchet after years of legal feuding, Intel Corp. and AmberWave Systems Corp. said Monday they have settled all patent infringement suits pending between them related to AmberWave’s so-called strained silicon patent portfolio.

Intel and AmberWave said in a joint statement that the deal will give Intel a license to all AmberWave patents and patent applications either existing today or filed during the agreement's 10-year term.

The rival semiconductor companies also said they have agreed to continuing discussions and evaluation of AmberWave's ongoing technology research...
