Law360, New York (October 22, 2010, 2:22 PM ET) -- A federal appeals court has refused to reconsider a ruling that dramatically increases the royalties UMG Recordings Inc. must pay for digital downloads of Eminem songs on a contract that predates online music sales.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Thursday denied UMG's petition for rehearing on the heels of a decision overturning the recording company's victory against FBT Productions LLC, a former Eminem producer that owns the rights to some of the rapper's albums and licensed them to a UMG subsidiary....
