Claims Pared In Wireless IP Suit Against RIM

Law360, New York (November 19, 2010, 1:52 PM ET) -- A federal judge has narrowed Mformation Technologies Inc.'s patent infringement allegations against Research In Motion Ltd. over wireless security technology, invalidating some claims and throwing out others.

RIM could not have infringed certain method claims because a portion of its operation took place outside the U.S., Judge James Ware of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said Thursday.
