U.S. Radio Stations Sign Record $1.7B Licensing Deal

Law360, New York (October 19, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- U.S. songwriters and commercial radio stations have penned a record $1.7 billion licensing deal covering royalties for music played on the radio and online.

The agreement, between American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers’ 190,000 members and the Radio Music License Committee’s nearly 12,000 commercial radio stations in the U.S., is the largest single licensing deal in the history of American radio, the two groups said.
