XM Invokes Home Recording Law In Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (July 05, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Defending copyright infringement allegations by the music industry, satellite radio provider XM argued Tuesday it was protected by a 15-year-old law that allows for noncommercial song recording.

In its answer to the latest lawsuit by a group of record labels, filed in the Manhattan district court, XM argues that the claims are barred by the 1992 Audio Home Recording Act, which protects digital audio recording devices from infringement suits.
