Telecom Says Microsoft's Hotmail Violates Email Patent

Law360, New York (December 01, 2011, 8:33 PM ET) -- Telecommunications company ZipLink LLC lodged a patent suit Thursday against Microsoft Corp. in Connecticut federal court, alleging the tech giant's Hotmail email service infringes its patent covering electronic communication technology.

Hartford, Conn.-based ZipLink alleges Microsoft is infringing U.S. Patent No. 7,672,998, “Apparatus and methods for controlling the transmission of messages,” which was issued March 2, 2010, according to the complaint.
