Domain Name Expansion Plan Decried At Senate Hearing

Law360, New York (December 08, 2011, 6:46 PM ET) -- The planned January rollout of new Internet domain names will unnecessarily confuse consumers and threaten brand owners with high costs to protect their trademarks, business leaders told a U.S. Senate panel on Thursday.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the nonprofit organization created by the U.S. government to manage domain names, plans to begin taking applications in January for new generic top-level domains.
