Law360, New York (February 10, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- A generic version of Pfizer’s erectile-dysfunction drug Viagra will reach the shelves of European drug stores after the European Patent Office decided to revoke a method-of-use patent for the drug, capping a seven-year battle between Pfizer and rival drug makers.
In a blow to Pfizer, the EPO affirmed its earlier decision to revoke Pfizer's method-of-use patent containing claims for the use of any PDE inhibitor for the manufacture of an oral treatment for erectile dysfunction.
