Megaupload Execs Free On Bail But Extradition Looms

Law360, New York (January 26, 2012, 12:58 PM ET) -- Two of the Megaupload Ltd. executives indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice for their role in the accused pirate site’s alleged crimes were reportedly granted bail Thursday by a New Zealand judge in advance of possible extradition to the U.S.

In a written decision, Judge David McNaughton granted bail to Megaupload’s chief marketing officer Finn Batato, 38, of Germany, and Bram van der Kolk, 29, of the Netherlands and New Zealand, who oversees programming and the underlying network structure for Megaupload’s sites, according to the...
