US Faces Tough Fight To Extradite Megaupload Founder

Law360, New York (February 27, 2012, 6:39 PM ET) -- While the U.S. appears dead set on trying the larger-than-life founder of file-sharing site Megaupload.com on a host of copyright infringement and other charges in a U.S. court, attorneys say extraditing Kim Dotcom from New Zealand is not a slam dunk for prosecutors.

Extraditing foreign nationals for copyright infringement is rare, but compounding that is the absence of any copyright infringement language in the extradition treaty between the U.S. and New Zealand, according to intellectual property specialist Peter Toren of Weisbrod Matteis & Copley PLLC....
