Law360, New York (March 02, 2012, 6:44 PM ET) -- A Georgia federal judge on Thursday invalidated an Acacia Research Corp. patent for a system to protect consumers from credit card fraud — a finding that ended the company's claims against Abercrombie & Fitch Stores Inc. and The Home Depot Inc.
U.S. District Judge Robert L. Vining Jr.'s decision adopts the findings of a report and recommendation from special master David W. Plant. Vining overruled the protests of plaintiff Financial Systems Innovation LLC, who had argued that Plant had made numerous errors of law.
