LG Gets Wi-Lan's V-Chip Patent Suit Knocked Down

Law360, New York (March 07, 2012, 10:45 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a suit in which Wi-Lan Inc. alleged LG Electronics Inc. had infringed its patented V-Chip technology that allowed parents to automatically block television programs based on their content, finding no infringement had taken place.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan upheld Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Peck's recommendation to grant summary judgment to LG and subsidiary LG Electronics USA Inc., finding that significant distinctions between LG and Wi-Lan's technologies had spared LG from findings of infringement.
