USPTO's Latest Fee Hike A Prelude To Even More, Attys Say

Law360, New York (May 15, 2012, 8:47 PM ET) -- A plan announced by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Monday that will raise fees this fall to account for inflation, on the heels of other recent increases, will be another small bite for patent applicants, but more significant hikes are yet to come, attorneys say.

The USPTO said that beginning in October, many of its fees will increase by 2.9 percent to reflect fluctuations in the consumer price index. That is on top of a 15 percent surcharge that was imposed on patent fees...
