Law360, New York (May 15, 2012, 5:24 PM ET) -- The Vatican has resolved its dispute with Italian fashion label Benetton Group SpA over the company's unauthorized advertising image of the pope kissing an Egyptian imam on the lips, the Vatican said Tuesday.
Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said in a statement that Benetton had agreed to donate an undisclosed sum to a Catholic charity and to make efforts to prevent third-party use the photo, which the fashion brand had already withdrawn from its own website and advertisements.
