BlackBerry Case Back To Court As Settlement Deal Unravels

Law360, New York (June 09, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has gone back to court to enforce its $450 million settlement deal with NTP over patents for the wireless devices, amid signs that the controversial licensing deal is threatening to unravel.

In order to enforce the deal, RIM filed a motion to stay the pending appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and to remand the case to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia to enforce the settlement terms.
