MGM Sues To Stop 'B-Movie' Sequel To 'Raging Bull'

Law360, New York (July 05, 2012, 5:33 PM ET) -- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. on Tuesday filed suit in California looking to stop a sequel to the acclaimed 1980 film “Raging Bull,” claiming boxing icon Jake LaMotta was obligated to offer MGM the movie rights to the book that is the basis of the new film.

MGM’s state court suit targets the former middleweight champion as well as RB Production II LLC, which MGM says is producing a movie based on “Raging Bull II,” a book LaMotta co-authored.
