Avon, Victoria's Secret Can't Dodge $18M Patent Verdict

Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 6:17 PM ET) -- A Texas federal judge on Thursday refused to overturn a jury's $18 million patent infringement verdict against Avon Products Inc. and Victoria's Secret Direct Brand Management LLC, affirming that their websites improperly used Soverain Software LLC's patented e-commerce system.

U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis said there was sufficient evidence to support the jury's November finding that Avon.com, YourAvon.com and VictoriasSecret.com infringed Soverain's U.S. Patent Numbers 5,715,314 and 5,909,492, which the jurors also declared valid.
