Producer Wants Judge To Say He Owns 'Whoomp! (There It Is)'

Law360, New York (September 07, 2012, 6:49 PM ET) -- Music producer Alvertis Isbell asked a Texas federal judge on Thursday to end his 10-year copyright dispute with publisher DM Records Inc. by declaring him the rightful owner of hip-hop songs "Dazzey Duks" and "Whoomp! (There It Is)," rebuffing DM's arguments that he sold it the rights in a bankruptcy sale.
