Law360, New York (August 17, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- U.S. intellectual property lawyers are still commanding heftier salaries than other attorneys, but the premium has been shrinking slightly in recent years, according to a new salary survey.
First-year IP associates report a median salary of $115,000, compared with the overall median for new lawyers of $100,000, according to the 2005 Associate Salary Survey by the National Association for Law Placement (NALP).
Five years ago, the corresponding salaries were $100,000 for new IP lawyers and $85,000 for all first-year associates, the organization said.
