Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 4:47 PM ET) -- A British court handed Microsoft Corp. a victory Thursday in an intellectual property dispute with Google Inc.'s Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc., finding that a Motorola Mobility patent related to pager technology was obvious and invalid in light of prior inventions.
Judge Richard Arnold, of the U.K. High Court of Justice Chancery Division, invalidated Motorola Mobility's European Patent Number EP 0847654, effectively clearing Microsoft of allegations that its Exchange ActiveSync email protocol and Live Messenger instant-messaging service infringed the Motorola Mobility patent.
