Lawmakers Vow To Revive Pay-For-Delay Deal Ban

Law360, New York (January 18, 2013, 5:03 PM ET) -- Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, vowed Thursday to reintroduce legislation banning so-called pay-for-delay deals in the wake of a Federal Trade Commission report showing a jump in the potentially anti-competitive pharmaceutical patent settlements.

The lawmakers said they would revive their previous efforts to make it illegal for branded-drug makers to pay generic-drug companies to delay the entry of cheaper products to the market, vowing to crack down on the jump in potentially anti-competitive deals that the FTC observed during the 2012 fiscal year....
