Law360, New York (January 30, 2013, 3:53 PM ET) -- The European Union's antitrust chief hinted Wednesday that the bloc might take on more companies that sue to block sales of rivals' products based on standard essential patents without first offering to license their intellectual property on reasonable terms.
The European Commission already has lodged formal objections against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. for its litigation strategy against Apple Inc., and other cases could follow, Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said.
