Law360, New York (January 30, 2013, 3:23 PM ET) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Tuesday sent a deal resolving a patent infringement action between tech heavies Rovi Corp. and Vizio Inc. back to the drawing board, finding the heavily redacted settlement agreement breached commission rules.
Rovi and Vizio had jointly moved to terminate the ITC’s section 337 investigation in early January, after the companies reached a deal to end Rovi’s allegations that Vizio imports televisions and Blu-ray players that infringe its patents for interactive program guides and parental control technology.
