Megaupload's Gov't Misconduct Claims Unfounded, US Says

Law360, New York (February 15, 2013, 4:36 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice responded Thursday to Megaupload Ltd.'s claims that authorities duped a Virginia federal judge to obtain seizure warrants shutting down the file-hosting site, calling the accusation “sensationalist rhetoric” designed to manipulate court proceedings.
The DOJ said any claims of government misconduct related to its case against the site are unfounded. Megaupload, the government said, has advanced the false accusation in a bid to improperly intervene in civil proceedings brought by one of the site's former users.
