Amazon Bests Watchmaker In IP Suit Over Search Results

Law360, New York (February 20, 2013, 4:24 PM ET) -- Amazon.com Inc. scored a victory Wednesday when a California federal judge ruled that the online retailer's search function did not infringe a watchmaker's trademark by pulling up results that displayed competitors' watches.

U.S. District Judge Dean D. Pregerson granted Amazon's bid for summary judgment in Multi Time Machine Inc.'s infringement suit against it, finding there is no confusion that MTM was the source of its competitors' watches just because a search for MTM watch models pulled up those watches.
