Law360, New York (March 07, 2013, 3:11 PM ET) -- A U.K. judge on Thursday reportedly declared invalid three Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. smartphone patents the company had asserted against Apple Inc., the latest setback for the Korean tech giant in its global fight against the iPhone maker.
Samsung had claimed that Apple's popular iPhone and iPad had infringed the patents, which protect technology for sending and receiving data over 3G mobile networks. But, siding with Apple's counterclaims, Judge Christopher Floyd of the High Court said each design was obvious.
