Microsoft's Skype Infringes Videoconference Patents, Suit Says

Law360, New York (May 01, 2013, 8:26 PM ET) -- Microsoft Corp. was hit with a patent suit Wednesday by CopyTele Inc., a patent assertion entity that claims the tech giant's Skype videoconferencing service infringes two patents.

The suit was filed by Secure Web Conference Corp., a subsidiary of Melville, N.Y.-based CopyTele, which describes itself in a press release as "a company specializing in patent monetization and patent assertion." The company sued AU Optronics Corp. and E Ink Holdings Inc. earlier this year over other patents.
