WebMD, Others Hit With Suits Over Medical Tech Patent

Law360, Los Angeles (September 30, 2013, 3:50 PM ET) -- WebMD LLC and a host of other health information providers were hit Friday with lawsuits alleging their websites and mobile device applications infringed a patent covering a computer-based method and system for storing medical data.

Communications company Cogent Medicine Inc. filed six near-identical complaints in California federal court claiming the defendant companies infringed U.S. Patent Number 7,133,879 by creating and maintaining online services and corresponding mobile device applications for searching and accessing medical information.
