RyMed Prevails In Rival's Catheter Connector Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 30, 2013, 8:41 PM ET) -- A Delaware federal judge on Monday ruled in favor of RyMed Technologies Inc. in a patent suit over the Tennessee-based medical device maker’s intravenous connectors brought by rival ICU Medical Inc.

U.S. District Judge Leonard P. Stark found that ICU had not sufficiently proven that prosecution history estoppel does not apply in its patent fight that began in 2007 over RyMed's In-Vision Plus device, meant to prevent blood backflow when a catheter is connected to an IV or syringe.
