LG, Whirlpool Fridge Patent Dispute Heats Up

Law360, New York (April 24, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Electronics and appliance manufacturer LG Electronics Inc. has filed suit against rival Whirlpool Corp., claiming infringement of three patents covering refrigerator components.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, South Korean LG and its United States subsidiary, LG Electronics U.S.A. Inc., allege that a number of Whirlpool refrigerator models, including some sold under the Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air and KitchenAid brand names, infringe three LG patents.
