AT&T, Others Hit With Patent Suit Over Fiber Optics

Law360, New York (May 20, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A Texas fiber optics company has filed an infringement suit against Verizon Communications Inc., AT&T Corp. and Qwest Communications International Inc. over a patent for how to route calls on a fiber-optic network.

Dallas-based Red River Fiber Optic Corp. filed the suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas alleging the companies' fiber-optic transmission systems in the United States infringe its patent.

The patent at the center of the litigation is U.S. Patent Number 5,555,478, which Red River owns by assignment....
