2 Of 3 Avante Patents Valid In Voting Machine Spat

Law360, New York (July 18, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- In a dispute over electronic voting machines, a federal judge has awarded partial summary judgment to the three technology companies accused by Avante International of infringing several patents.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Mummert of the Eastern District of Missouri on Wednesday denied the defendants' claims that two of Avante's patents were invalid but granted another claim invalidating a patent.

The judge ordered the parties to file a statement within 15 days outlining what issues, if any, remain.
