Motorola Settles Suit Over Cell Phone Signal Patent

Law360, New York (August 26, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Patent-licensing company Digital Technology Licensing LLC has settled litigation against Motorola Inc. over a patent for signal coding technology used in cell phones.

In a statement issued Tuesday, DTL said the agreement with Motorola followed several other licensing and settlement deals the company has inked for U.S. Patent Number 5,051,799, both through litigation and out-of-court agreements.

DTL reached earlier deals with Nokia, Samsung, Cingular, Ericsson and LG, and is continuing to litigate the patent against Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint.
