Netflix Sued Over E-Mail Notification Patent

Law360, New York (October 27, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Patent-holding company Media Queue LLC has accused Netflix Inc. and other rental DVD and video game providers of infringing a patented method of notifying customers via e-mail about the status of their rental accounts.

The lawsuit, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, claims the industry’s leading online DVD rental services use an e-mail communication program that infringes Media Queue’s patented notification system.
