Alcatel Accused Of Duping Standard-Setting Body

Law360, New York (August 03, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Alcatel SA, the French telecommunications giant, duped a global standard-setting body into adopting industrywide standards without disclosing that it held patent applications for the technology, according to a federal antitrust lawsuit filed this week.

The lawsuit was filed by Foundry Networks Inc., a networking company that uses Alcatel’s user-authentication technology. The ubiquitous technology verifies whether or not a computer user is authorized to access a particular network.
