Amazon, Others Sued Over Data Encryption Patent

Law360, New York (March 26, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Amazon.com Inc., Visa Inc., American Express Co. and several other companies that conduct online business have been tagged in a lawsuit accusing them of infringing a patent related to an encrypted data transmission method.

TQP Development LLP filed the suit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming the six defendants and their subsidiaries have infringed and continue to infringe a patent titled “Encrypted data transmission system employing means for randomly altering the encryption keys.”
