Law360, New York (July 07, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP has reportedly dropped starting salaries for newly qualified lawyers in its London office from £90,000 ($145,200) to £85,000 ($137,100), following in the footsteps of a number of firms that have experimented with salary reductions to quell recession woes.
The 5.5 percent salary decrease will apply to newly qualified lawyers, known as trainee solicitors in the U.K., who are set to begin work in September, according to a report from The Lawyer.
